Ajit Pai Attacks Cali’s Net Neutrality Law, Gets POUNDED by Wiener

#hostgator…NO THANKS – Worst company ever. First of all, I cancelled and switched. Come to find out after cancelling, they charged my account for 3 YEARS as if I was still using them. I am so displeased and would never recommend this horrible company to anyone. Save yourself a lot of time and money and find someone else. Emily

I know how the FCC can potentially retaliate against California's "Net Neutrality" law: they can do so by revoking the transmission license of EVERY radio and TV station in California! This means that EVERY radio station and EVERY TV station in California would have to go silent.

the fcc does NOT make laws, they implement regulations. the fcc repealed regulations regarding net neutrality. i agree with your arguments, but not your “facts”.

I wonder who hired this guy?…..and if they are regretting it now? This guy is an a$$-clown hired by some big-wigs who thought he'd get the job done, while in all actuality, he's causing more problems than he's solving. Their best bet?…would be to get him out of there (on whatever trumped up charges or whatever criminal act they can frame him for!) and get someone else to take his spot.

One point about ISP's and the repeal of Net Neutrality that nobody seems to never talk about is. The ISPs claim they need to charge fees and screw over people to afford to upgrade their equipment. But if they have the millions of dollars to pay off people to get it repealed, and keep paying more people to keep it repealed. Then they can afford to have Net Neutrality in place. They only wanted it repealed to screw you over and increase profits, and nothing else.

It's true now that Scott Pruitt got kicked out, though.

Of course even a blind squirrel (commieforna) can find a nut (net neutrality law)

  • Bruno Vic
    Posted at 12:59h, 26 September

Net Neutrality accomplished nothing. What you people fail to understand is that traffic is not inherently equal. The reason you Netflix traffic gets to you fast IS because of traffic prioritization. That's just how the internet works. Don't argue with me I am a network engineer and I do this for a living. And no I don't work for ISPs for those loonies who want to disregard my subject matter expertise. Look Net Neutrality went about it the wrong way. It gave you the illusion that something was done. But the ISPs were still able to do the same things they did before because Net Neutrality was asking ISPs to do something that was impossible. IF we made all traffic equal do you know what would happen? Netflix would be ridiculously slow. Why? Well quite frankly the internet is not that fast. So there are servers throughout the internet co located in your region to shorten the traffic distance to allow certain traffic to reach you faster than other traffic. Some of those servers are located at the ISPs as well. So yes some traffic that is band width intensive will need priority over other traffic. Implementing Net Neutrality in it's current form and enforcing it would cripple the internet. So ISPs just ignored Net Neutrality and well the FCC didn't do anything to enforce it because they knew Net Neutrality was bogus. It was just put in place to shut you people up. So the reversal of Net Neutrality really didn't change anything. BUT I will say this. I do think a form of Net Neutrality should be done. However classifying ISPs as public utilities is NOT the way to do it. ISPs ARE information service providers. Ajit is right about that. You people are confusing the WIRE (coax/fiber) with the information service (ISP). See back in the day ATT owned most of the telephone lines (the WIRE). Information providers (ISPs such as AOL, Prodigy and Earthlink) they leased this line and pushed internet traffic across it. Then broadband come around with their faster speeds and dedicated lines and sells you this idea that with this line you can have only ONE internet service. Then you the public foolishly bought that idea and forgot that once upon a time these lines used to be leased. Truth is though you can still lease coax or fiber. You can lease any line you want. If AOL wanted they could lease a FIOS fiber line and push their internet service across it to you. That's where ISPs try to trick you. They don't want to lease their lines. If they did that would mean they would have competition. They don't want that. So because you the public cannot distinguish between the WIRE and the INFORMATION SERVICE you foolishly try to classify ISPs as a whole as a utility. This is like subjecting a car to FAA regulation. Because a car doesn't fly the FAA regulations do not mean shit to a car owner. What NEEDS to be done is to distinguish the WIRE from the INFORMATION SERVICE and to classify the WIRE under Title II and the INFORMATION SERVICE under Title I. By doing it this way ISPs would be force to lease their lines to other would be INFORMATION SERVICES so that you the consumer can have more choices of ISP providers. If you want to stop ISP abuse then THAT is how Net Neutrality should be done.

Does this Wiener guy know anything? He is mad about Pai not criticizing Verizon over the recent throttling of Santa Clara Country fire fighter's internet. Does he not know the Net Neutrality will not prevent that. Net Neutrality did not stop ISPs from capping traffic. It only required them to not discriminate between traffic. Data caps DO NOT discriminate between traffic. Even if the Net Neutrality was still in place this would still have happened and it would not have violated the Net Neutrality rule. I'm sorry but that Wiener sounds like an idiot.

Honestly this whole throttling has been happening before TRUMP in fact it was going on during OBAMA such as AT&T I have had the same plane "UNLIMITED AND UNRESTRICTED DATA" and every time they try to throttle my service I call and remind them THEY ARE FEDERALLY BOUND BY CONTACT THEY AND I SIGNED AND IT IS FEDERALLY NOTARIZED BY THE TAX payment ON IT their for by throttling my service they are in fact committing A FEDERAL CRIME!!! And then they back off as long as I don't change my plan in any way they cannot do a thing… And they know it…
