You will need a domain name to get your business email address. Cost for an email address is $5 a month! I’ve found google to be the easiest to manage as opposed to godaddy.

This was so informative! I think I'll switch from Mailchimp to Mailerlite, just because it will save me money down the road! 🙂

I agree with you, having a platform that only you control. That's why I think an author website and a newsletter is super important. I got both of those before I published but somehow neglected my newsletter for a long time. That was a huge mistake I later corrected 😀

I usually start with a personal anecdote or a personal update every time I send out a newsletter. It really does wonders for engagement.

Another big difference between mailchimp and mailerlite is that mailchimp will charge you twice for users subscribed on two different list, while mailerlite charges per unique user. Another thing is that mailerlite gives access to all tools for free accounts. I know for sure free accounts don't have access to automation on mailchimp and I use that a lot to engage new subscribers.

This is a really great vlog! I'd love a follow-up about how to build my newsletter. Although I have a question: I've not published original work yet but I'm currently working on my debut novel and I have a lot of followers from the fanfiction world who I know are following my novel with interest (based on feedback I've gotten on posts/follower count on SM etc)… do you think it's a good idea to have a newsletter even if I'm not published yet? Thank you ^_^
