Configure Gmail to send/receive email via your Hostgator Email server

Do not use host gator!!! – Signed up a year ago and tried to cancel about two months ago – I found it impossible to contact anyone and after emailing a manager asking to cancel he told me I couldn’t unless I sent them a copy of my passport (?) which I obliged in doing. Was then told they need a copy of my bank card (?) which I also provided and was then told this wasn’t sifficient evidence of identity and therefore my account cannot be cancelled. Then tried to cancel by formally emailing the manager saying the company did not have my permission to take any money from my bank account and that I would like my account to be closed – to which I was sent an extremely rude email from a manager saying they would not take my email seriously?!? Since this money has been taken from my bank account THREE TIMES in the past two months without my permission and without any success in closing my account with #hostgator. Anyone planning on using this site – BEWARE. I’vNever had a worse experience using any online service. M., Montreal

This video demonstrates how you can connect your various email accounts at your Hostgator server with your Gmail accounts, so that you can send and receive all your mail from all your accounts via the same Gmail account.

Thank you so much for making this video however it doesn't seem to be working for me.

I am getting an error at the second step when hitting add account. It says that it's having trouble connecting to "mail…..com"

    What am I doing wrong?

Took me like an entire hour and never figured out I had to switch "smtp" for "mail" to be able to send e-mail from the custom made e-mail address, thanks a lot for this, you saved me a couple extra headaches guys!

In my account on Hostgator there is an option to do the forwarding without doing all this. Why do we need to do all these steps when you offer a one click solution in the hostgator accounts?

So…. I follwed EVERYTHING to a tee.. I got the window saying that a confirmation email was sent to my "hostgator" email, but, when I logged into it and checked it, NOTHING was there! Smh. So….. Not sure what went wrong…. I mean, if I hadn't put in the correct info, it wouldn't of let me finish right? I wouldn't of gotten the email saying it was sent right? Please help, thanks.

Also…. You guys need to hurry up and let users chose IMAP over POP3.. I use both my computer AND phone to check my personal email and would love to be able to do the same with my "hostgator" email as well…. Like, come on guys, I don't see why you WOULDN'T want people to have that choice… Just saying..
