G2A Reddit AMA BACKFIRES – The Know Gaming News

chiaki , new york, NY – it is justNOThost – First, we found out our site is not up all of sudden. We don’t know how long but it stayed down for 3 days after we found out. They never let us know until we contacted them. When we contacted them they said they have a broken server and our data was on that one. Over 3 days they didn’t do anything like moving the data to the working server, they just left as it is for 3 days until the server were fixed. Web hosting company not hosting over 3 days? That is ridiculous, and what made it worse is that they never contacted to customers, no information on their website, their web site just keep saying that they are the most reliable service provider. After 3 days with our many contact to them, it was fixed finally. Right after that, we found out our emails on the domain is not working, and it is not resolved yet. We can’t receive emails at all at this point. Those sites we had problem is e-commerce site as well. They just don’t care at all. Also they screwed up our SSL before as well.

Buying cheap Steam keys sounds like a pretty nice deal… at least until you accidentally buy a stolen one. Steam key reseller G2A has been criticized quite a bit for this, so they decided to host an AMA to clear the air… which turned into a total disaster. Seriously, it’s hard to look away.

Why is a lot of the footage just random trailer footage of triple a games? You should at least stick to one game for stock footage, its confusing

G2A SCAMMERS. I rather pay double price on steam and actually own and play the game instead of paying half the price on G2A and having my cd key cancelled by the seller after a month of using the game. really people, don't use G2A they cooperate with scammers even if it's by their lack of support to the buyers

I think part of the problem is that developers thought they were on their way to defeating first sale doctrine with digital sales. They made a ton of money back on disabling the used game market which will vanish at some point. Many of these keys have to validate against a legitimate server which should be keeping track of the keys that are valid in a database along with the credit card transaction affiliated. It should also be possible to validate database stored keys and invalidate invalid keys quickly if, somehow invalid keys, somehow showed up. I bet the core problem is that legitimate keys have been resold (stolen credit card would explain this) making it near impossible for the developer to tell the difference. The developer should also be tracking the credit card transaction affiliated with the key, if the transaction is disputed, then disable the key in the database. Why is this a problem? I'm a senior computer science student who sets up databases at work. Someone capable explain why this stuff can not be tracked and disabled when appropriate? Because it doesn't make sense to me.

There's one outright lie in this video: G2A do give a 14-30 day protection to purchases without the G2A shield thing. The G2A shield gives, as far as I am aware, lifetime protection so if the key you bought is found to be obtained illegally 6-12 months down the line G2A still covers you. The 14-30 day protection is basically for how long the money you paid for it stays in the system so if the key is bad you can get a refund and if developers/publishers work quickly to cull any illegally obtained keys from the system then you're also covered there

And one thing worth a mention: Steam also has insurance but it isn't optional (G2A shield is basically long term shrinkage protection for G2A).

Disclaimer: I've bought games from G2A in the past and know from experience how their refund system works because I got a dodgy TESO key off there that got removed from my TESO account because it had been purchased with a stolen CC and because I had G2A shield G2A first tried to get a replacement key for me from the seller and when they couldn't, big shocker, they paid me back in full (price, taxes and G2A shield fee). Mind you that TESO thing was about 2 years ago now but I've not seen any indication they have changed their practices.

I can't afford full priced games. (especially older games that still cost a bunch) Advanced warfare still costs $60 on steam. Battlefield 4 still costs a ton. Spec ops the line still costs $30. I only have $30. I can get all 3 on G2A for $20

Wow. You don't care at all, do you? You didn't practice, you didn'T write the script, you didn't read it and you can barely read the teleprompter. It would be better if Siri just read me the script. I hope they don't pay you more than 5$ and hour.

Wow… this was an interesting video since I didn't know why G2A was so cheap. But the shot at best buy was a bit over the line, for me. Their geek squad protection/warranty replaced my xbox one s after a power malfunction, which Microsoft said that their 1 year manufacturer warranty didn't cover because it was not in a well ventilated area (inside of an enclosed entertainment center), and I didn't have to pay for a new one either way. Sure, I paid them for the additional protection, but it would have also lasted 3 years, which is pretty cool since even Microsoft wouldn't bother with helping me after only owning it for 8 months and it was their fault.
