Hostgator Review

Terrible customer service! – I called multiple times to have my service terminated and was continuously charged. After my third call I was told by Jason that I was being charged because I left my card on file. Very untrustworthy company. He also refused to refund my money (over $160) because it was over 30 days ago! I called before but now there was nothing they could do to help. Save yourself the frustration. Hostgator Review

Hello, viewers! Today we are going to talk about the web hosting service, HostGator. Stay tuned for the advantages and disadvantages of this service and hopefully by the end of this overview you will know whether or not HostGator is for you.

What is HostGator?

HostGator offers web hosting, reseller hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated servers, and domains. The company is famous for its hosting service, which has three different plans — the Hatchling plan, the Baby plan, and the Business plan — all which include unlimited disk space and bandwidth.

The reseller hosting comes in five different levels — Aluminum, Copper, Silver, Gold, and Diamond. Each comes with unlimited domains and email accounts, free site builder software, private name servers, and 4,500 free website templates.

The VPS hosting comes in nine levels, aptly named levels 1 through 9. Each VPS account comes with unlimited domains and email accounts, private name servers, and 24/7/365 award-winning support.

The fully managed dedicated servers are available for Linux and Windows in four levels — basic, standard, elite, and pro. Each dedicated server comes with free website transfers for unlimited websites, 4,500 website templates, and a free SmarterBundle professional license.

The last product the company offers is domains. Your domain will come with free domain locking and automatic domain renewal. Domains can be registered for a period of 1, 2, or 3 years.

What is so great about it?

Number 1: HostGator phone support is incredibly fast, especially considering how large of a company it is. After you call in, you will be guided through your problem step by step until it is resolved.

Number 2: It’s cheap! The prices are rock bottom compared to the general market. I will discuss the exact pricing later on in this overview, but suffice it to say, it is very reasonable.

Number 3: You are able to host unlimited domains under your account without bandwidth or disk space restrictions. HostGator hosting truly has a lot of features to take advantage of.

Number 4: The cPanel is easy to use. This control panel is incredibly user friendly. Large icons for managing files, accessing web mail, and checking traffic stats help turn you from amateur to pro in no time at all!

Number 5: The website builders are very helpful. The two builders, Site Studio and SiteBuilder, make it really easy to build your website. After you choose one of the 4,500 templates, all you have to do is fill in the text areas. All the forms and tables are build into the templates.

Why isn’t it great?

Number 1: The chat support of HostGator is not as timely as the phone support. While I’ve found the phone service to be top notch, the chat service is lacking. If you have an issue with your hosting services, call in and talk to a real person, like they did in the 90s.

Number 2: HostGator isn’t always on the ball with notifications. When accounts are modified or removed, often times the users aren’t notified about these changes. It’s never fun to discover unexpected changes to your website, I would know. Just something to keep in mind.

How much is it?

Web hosting plans are priced as follows:

The Hatchling Plan has the basic features and starts at $3.96 a month.

The Baby Plan also includes unlimited domains and starts at $6.36 a month.

The Business Plan also includes free private SSL and IP and a free toll free number and starts at $10.36 a month.

Reseller hosting ranges in price from $24.95 a month to $99.95 a month.

VPS hosting ranges in price from $19.95 a month to $219.95 a month.

Dedicated servers range in price from $174 a month to $374 a month.

Domains cost between $12.95 and $29.95 a year.

Now that you know what HostGator is all about, I hope that you can decide for yourself whether or not it is the best hosting service for you. Please let us know in the comments if you have ever used HostGator or any other website hosting service and what you thought of it. Have a great day!
