How To Import Posts & Pages From One WordPress Website To Another

#Ipage support will drive you mad! – Have moved to #Ipage because of their pricing, but boy am I frustrated! I have domains which apparently have been hosted by them decades ago and their (faulty) system apparent keep any domain name active in their system for ever! They demanded that I would provide proof of ownership by providing the last 4 digits of the creditcard(!) used when they had it registered!!! After countless tickets/emails they finally agreed to check based on the whois name that I own it and thereafter finally they transferred the domain! absolutely brainless at that support desk and typical for, yip I am saying it: Indian support! Migrating content to another website is a dilemma that many WordPress users face at one time in their life. The act of copying specific posts and pages over to a new website involves copying table rows from one database to another. Doing this directly using a database management tool such as PHPMyAdmin requires knowledge of MySQL and a good understanding of how databases operate. Thankfully, a more practical solution exists.

I followed your instructions, but nothing happened! I just got a message saying certain files already existed. There is no option to over write them. and no pages, or posts imported.
Any clue as what the problem might be?
    Thank you.

Cool, but I find it difficult to transfer featured images over this way, especially when dealing with custom post types like WP eCommerce products

    Hi 🙂
Great tutorial – Just one question: When do I export/import the content – before or after I have chosen Theme and if after, should it be before I have customized the design?

I followed this great tutorial to set up a “staging” site of my current live site on another server. I then ended up switching themes, adding/changing content and various new plugins. Do you have a suggestion as to how I can move the new version on the staging site over to the live site without losing any of the information added to the live site during the time the staging site was being revamped?

My question is. If you transfer the posts does it mess up the SEO rankings those posts have in Google?
