Try anybody else! – Poor customer service, arrogant techs, impolite & unable to get the job done. Robert Frawley, northern ca, usa, tophandwesternart
If you’ve ever wanted to move a site to a new host and it’s a wordpress website, this video is going to show you how to.
I’m going to show you in this video how to transfer a wordpress blog backup and install it on Hostgtor hosting.
I’ve split this video into 4 Steps and within the first 30 seconds you’ll have the option to jump to any Step via the Youtube annotations.
Step 1: Creating and downloading the wordpress complete backup and database
Step 2: Adding domain to Hostgator, plus an email account and a new wordpress installation.
Step 3: Uploading the wordpress blog backup core files, via FTP and also how to via File Manager.
Step 4: Importing the blog database via phpmyadmin
If you need any help please feel free to ask for help, if you’ve already joined Hostgator don’t forget you can always jump on the live chat support.

WordPress Backup Plugin Videos
This video is a little old and I plan on creating a new one ASAP, the plugin is called “WordPress for Google Plus”.
The other plugin mentioned in the video is called “BackWPup”. I’m going to redo the video and will post link here over the weekend.

Posted at 01:12h, 20 SeptemberAnswer:::Forget it figured it out…..if you are transferring from an extension in the wp-config just change the table prefix to whatever the databases name was before in this case the extension name.

Posted at 23:37h, 03 AprilHi Craig, Thanks very much for this video. I transferred my first wordpress site using this alone – stoked! One thing though, I couldn't open the sql file as you did. Is there a program I need to open them (so I can delete the wp-config file)? Cheers, Craig Eckert (Australia)
