How To Move / Transfer A Domain Name To A New Host / Owner / Person / Or Account

Run from this company as fast as you can – I moved my WordPress sites from GoDaddy to #hostgator a while back as I was fed up with GoDaddy, at first they seemed OK but anytime I would run into a problem which was usually on their end their support just plain sucks. Saying it sucks is putting it mildly, they are just plain idiots, I’m a power web user and there support staff seem as knowledgable as a box of rocks’ that is if you cen get them on the phone. After numerous issues with server reliabilty I’m fed up and am moving my sites elsewhere. Bruce Carter, OC, CA, dentaltrader.com

Great video. I have a specific need. I have a WordPress site that is on a well-known hosting company. The issue is that the WordPress is driven from an Open Source configuration of the hosting company not the WordPress specific of that hosting company. Do you know how to transfer the site to the WordPress section? Essentially I am working within a hosting company and not migrating a WordPress site from one hosting company to another. Advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks for this. One can tell you really know what you are doing. I have a question: If I buy a domain name and webhosting both from the same company, do I have to do the transfer thing? Sorry for the dumb question..

I am confused? I just signed up to site ground after hosting with godaddy for over 19 years and I have both my domain name and hosting on godaddy but want to move everything over before my godaddy account is set to renew in two months so I can just close down that account. What is the process of moving my website and attached domain to site-ground so I can manage all in one place?

I wish you would have talked about cost. Namecheap want to charge a $25 fee to transfer. Is this reasonable? What am I really paying $25 for?

Hi Adam, thanks for your amazing topics and tutorials, as a beginner in this business,I have a domain with godaddy with "https"" and I want to move it to shopify, but direct transferring is not possible because the 60 days of purchasing time limit is not over yet it's only 32 days. I can redirect the domain or make an extension by …shopify, my question is : Which way is better until I can release my domain name? And if I use one or other would it be the same https format or should I change it again? Thanks Adam.

    Ok, I have a question:
I deal with a web developer, and i want the domain.
If i asked him to transfer the domain, does he can control the domain after he transfer it? Or there will be no control for him from the old registrer?

So once the domain transfer is complete, will the old website stop working and will be run on the new hosting? Do I Need to cancel the old website or is this done automatically?
