How To Move WordPress from Local Server to Live Site

Ralph Hardwick , UK www.overland-rovers.com – Drastically gone downhill – I have been a #Justhost customer for 6 years and until recently have had excellent service. However my website has been down for many days and it would now seem that they have deleted all my files, wiped my sql databases and removed all my stored backups. In additon they tell be that there are no other backups available. That’s 6 years of data, images, articles and other info lost forever. Whatever you do avoid them. If you currently with them and your website is working, back it up locally now and move hosting company quickly.

Very detailed video that shows you how to transfer wordpress form a local server to a live site.

This doesn't explain how to relink uploaded images – Mine are still directing to my local host so when I stop the mamp server the links break.

    Please help!

For those who uploaded ย the website from localhost to wordpress but your link redirects to xampp/wamp/localhost wordpress,
    TRY THE FOLLOWING:-
    1) (Re)start your wamp or xampp.
    2) Goto your wordpress admin panel from the server where you hosted it (www.yourdomainname.blahblah/wp-login.php)
    3) Goto Settings > update 'wordpress address URL' and 'site address URL'
    4) Install 'Search and replace' extension/plugin > search for "http://localhost/your_wp_foldername" and replace with your's site URL.
    5) Watch the rabbits come out of the hat!

I did everything from the video and got an "Error establishing a database connection" … If I try to go back to my localhost version now, it doesn't work because I changed the URL to my live address… before exporting… So I cannot access localhost/wp-admin … How do I correct that ?

Hi! I just want to ask if all the configuration i made on wamp server gets uploaded too to the live server. My concerns is, there are functionalities and configuration that differs between wamp server and a live server, for example, setting up wamp to send email and configuring it so you can test email sending from wamp server is different from configuring a live site to do the same function (send emails). Please enlighten me more ๐Ÿ™‚

In addition to these steps, I had to provide the db hostname available from my plesk panel into wpconfig.php. That solved it.

Just install WordPress on localhost, then install the All In One WP Migration Plugin on both the main site and the localhost, export the file in All In One WP Migration on the main site and import it to the localhost and vice versa.

Where will I get the live site ftp credentials? I tried typing the "lareinaelena.com" in Host and "anonymous" in Username. I left Password and Port blank. And it says to me:

    Status: Resolving address of lareinaelena.com
    Status: Connecting to 216.239.32.21:21
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message…
Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server

Thanks a million. That's the tutorial what I need. If I compress the WordPress folder and upload it to Cpanel and unzip there. Will it work same like you uploaded through FTP? My proxy doesn't allow port 20 & 21.
