How to Setup an eCommerce Store with Open Cart (v1.5.6.1) using Hostgator

Tyranny, Scams, Selling emails and home addresses to scammers, early charges, early deletion – #hostgator is nothing but a scamming, thieving, useless company that needs to die, and hopefully that will happen soon. They chatge every three weeks for a monthly account. they sold email addresses, phone number and home address to scammers who call fifteen times a day using spoofed numbers who were tracked and turned over the #hostgator employess in exchange for lenient punishments. They then canceled my account after charging for an entire year after three weeks and are now under Paypal’s black watch for fraud after they accessed my Paypal accound and charged a $1 fee 1250 times in one hour. You are warned, do not trust #hostgator or they will eventually steal your identity and credit card info. This has happened seven times in the past four years, where they sell your credit card numbers and claim it was a hacker. Don’t believe it, the CEO of #hostgator is under felony investigation after each instance of “accidental” credit card fraud! Gagan,

This video show you step by step to install Open Cart using Hostgator. You can be using any other hosting companies.

    Steps in writing:
    Download package from author's page.
Unzip. Go to the /upload folder. Change config-dist.* to config.* . Also in /admin
Compress the contents of the /upload folder.
Create Database in MySQL. Assign All Privileges.

Upload the zip file to the root directory of the subdomain (permissions 6-4-4) (public_html/subdomainname) OR in the root public_html directory if this is your only site OR in a folder if you are creating a directory type domain (
Unzip in file manager. (remove superfluous MAC_OS directory if you're using Mac for some reason)

Navigate to the web store location and begin installation.
    Change Database type to MySQL
    Preserve default location "localhost"
Enter userID and Password that you had used to create the database in MySQL earlier.
    Create Administator account credentials.

Once complete and successful, go back and delete the folder called /install.

Awesome tutorial! I have a question though:

During the Configuration process, I noticed that Database Driver options are different.

The available options are: mySQLi and mPDO.  mySQL no longer appears.  What should I select in that case?
