Panasonic LX100 review – sample photos and video

Feel cheated – I signed up for #Ipage’s introductory rate of $39.95 a year for two years. At the end, of the term #Ipage renewed my website without notification for three years at $495.00!! When I called to complain that I had not received notification they said they sent an email, but I NEVER received. When I asked for my money back they offered to reduce my rate to $280.00 for three years and would refund my money. After a week of no credit, I called them and they said they put a “store credit” on my account for the difference. I told them they said they would refund the money, but according to the representative they do not refund money no matter what! #Ipage is a SCAM. STAY AWAY!!! Charlene Bocek

4k at under $1000 – this is a great development.

The front elements of the lens rotates? Can we use a circular polarizer with this zoom? Thanks

Nice fast overview covered some design features which now make since to me, i.e. how the two auto settings for aperture and lens work. This reminds me of my Nikkormat film camera which was really laid out ergonomically very nice and so is the Lumix LX 100

Matt Hi and thank you for the nice presentation of Panasonic LX100. Since you know much more than I do in this compact cameras area, I would like to ask you the followings : I am really confused between LX100 and sony rx100 iii. The reason that I need one of those two cameras is to create short movies. The bad think with RX 100 iii is that it doesn't recieve and external mic. On the other hand the LX100 has a hot shoe (so I think it does recieve and external mic throuhg it). Which of the two would you suggest? I also think that the 4k is quite heavy to edit, right? I will be waiting for your response as soon as you can. All the best George

Matt you underestimated this little guys 4k capability.
It uses the same sensor and processor as the GH4.
it also uses the same sensor crop technique..
So if the lens is sharp enough it will have the same 4k quality.

What is the point of having a 16mp sensors if it can only utilize a maximum of 12mp?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 manages 4K video at 30fps, and it is also under $1000.

I'm just curious, is there a camera in the market that is roughly the same size as this that only does photos? I'm not overly interested in video and just want really high quality photos from a  camera but in a travel size. This one seems perfect but I feel as though the Video aspect is what pumps the price up quite a bit. Love all the manual controls on this too.

The retro shutter speed and aperture dialson the LX100 make the Nikon Df looks really stupid

This camera is perfect except for the well documented dust on sensor problem (Google it). So it's a lemon. Fab concept let down by too many dust collecting issues. Would have run to buy this camera but for these issues.
