Setting Up Panelists for Zoom Webinars


Annoyed customer – What a scam – I bought this hosting, and they were advertising it for $3 a month, I paid yearly and it initially cost $36 a year. The next year they charged me $120 for that year, and said that their prices had risen. They didn’t inform me of this, and their website still says exactly the same price on it. Not only are they outright lying, but they lost all my data and backups, and their excuse for not keeping any backups themselves is they don’t keep backups if your site is over 100GB.


When you are hosting a Zoom webinar, or holding a Zoom meeting, you can add panelists and it is you who controls who you see on the screen. You can also turn an attendee to a panelist. You can also invite your panelists in advance. Choosing the advance option panelists will automatically get a link to join the webinar. You can also swap panelists to become attendees again.

In this episode I show you how to set up your panelists in advance and also how to switch the attendee to become a panelist and back to an attendee.

    Hi! If a person registers for my webinar as an attendee, and I want him to be a panelist. Can do that before the webinar? I do not wish to wait till webinar date to promote him to panelist. Or do I just invite him as a panelist although he has registered already as an attendee?

    Thanks for the explanation. Am I correct by thinking that making someone a panellist is the best way to get people in a "hot seat" during a webinar? And then changing them back into an attendee after their "hot seat session"is finished?

    I'm confused by this. Do we have to pay more for a webinar in opposite to a Zoom meeting? I have the pro account. And I can't seem to find the option to create Webinars, add panelists or even pay to create a Webinar. Could you help me?

    This is nice, but not what I was hoping to find. We're using webinar for a theatre production. So far, I am seeing no way to create groups of panelists for easy use on a repeated basis. Instead, each webinar requires me to re-key each person's name and email address into the webinar invite them as a panelist. Surely there's a better way? That's a lot of unnecessary overhead when scheduling rehearsals.

    I have host access, so I'm wondering if there's something on the admin side that can be enabled to create groups (one for actors, one for tech, etc). We do not need groups for attendees (audience) at this time.

    I ran a webinar today and luckily there were only 14 people. And I wanted us all to talk and see each other. I individually promoted each one by right-clicking on their profile and promote to panellist. Is there a way to do this to all of them in one go? The thing is, I don't know beforehand who is attending or last-minute joiners/ Zoom say I can promote up to 100 people as panellists. So if I had 60 people and I wanted to see all of them and interact, how do I do that? Promote them all in ONE go? Thanks x

    I have an event that starts with an intro welcome slide deck, transitions into a welcome from our board chair, moves into a 4 person panel, then moves into breakout sessions. Would I need to make the board chair the main panelists and then change the 4 panel to panelists when they are done talking?
