Tabletop Weekly Podcast with Matthew Mercer

William, Freehold, New Jersey – Don’t. Just don’t. – I signed up because they offered a seemingly good deal and they came recommended on a blog. For small issues their support was very helpful in resolving them and their services were just like any other hosting company’s. However, a few months in, my website would crash without any changes in traffic or changes to the website itself. This happened every few months and every time the techs would say it is the fault of my website optimization. But there was no logic in that claim

The first episode of a new Tabletop Weekly Podcast (TTW Podcast for short) features host Mark Hulmes talking about Dusk City Outlaws, City of Mist, Angry Joe’s Street Fighter Miniatures Game and much. Then Mark speaks with special guest Matthew Mercer about Critical Role, RPGs, and drunken antics at UK anime cons.

I was thinking of a survivor esc. role-playing game. That is, the T.V. series survivor. I liked the idea of being on an island or whatever doing challenges and trying to convince others to try and stay safe. My favorite series right now is Stumpt playing Uranium Chef. While that's the cooking elimination challenges, I still want a different kind of elimination reality show rpg.

I know the curse of the DM. In 34 years of D&D, I've only had three long-term characters – more than a handful of sessions. I have loads of character ideas but I just don't get to be a player.

Me and my friends actually did start playing D&D because of people like you and Matthew Mercer. So you keep on doing what you do.

Mark, I've been wondering, not counting the technical aspect, the cameras, mic's ect, just you and your players sitting at the table, how does it feel. are you all playing as if it's a show, or are you just playing D&D just like you would at home in private. I don't know if this is coming out right, it would be easier to ask this in person so I hope this all came out right.

I agree about the respite moments. One that stands out for me from your series was the stage performance where Matt did the peep show dance as granny Trel and embarrassed Trott. LOL Or Trotts interaction with the shop owner that resulted in him burning a building down with the man in it.

City of Mist has a very Lovecraft feel of how the world works, with this hidden world right under the nose of the normal real world.

This was epic. Never really been a fan of podcasts as i find them a bit cumbersome at times, but this was so laid back, i was happily engaged throughout. Casually name dropping Taliesin and Ivan was so, dare i say, "glorious".
The fact you have this epic friendship with DM Senpai made the interview not even feel like an interview.
Now i am curious to learn more about High Rollers too, sounds like a good time to be had.

Absolutely love this. While I'd been a GM before Critical Role and High Rollers, you guys certainly inspired me to go bigger and bolder for my campaigns. Additionally, you helped me convince many of my more skeptical friends that'd this would be their jam by simply providing an example of what it's like to play with such unbridled enthusiasm. It's also translated into encouraging some them to GM three years on; make art for our games; push me to try other systems and so much more. So for that I'll be eternally grateful. Also this casual format is great. Just two guys talking passionately about this wonderful hobby.

Love the new format Mark! You have inspired my love for DnD. I now DM a semi regular family dnd session that has even got my mum, who has never done anything like that before, into playing and enjoying the game.

Constructive criticism: when you were talking about the kickstarters, you started tapping the table, which the mic registered as a very low thumping sound. It's quite unpleasant to the ear, and something you really should try to avoid.

    Oh hi mark.
I have been playing Wings of Glory a lot recently, it’s a WW2 fighter ace game that was the inspiration for X-Wing the board game. If you’re still playing games with Hatfilms it would be cool watch you guys try it out.

im really excited to play numenera2 when that comes out – it'll be split into 2 halves – discovery and destiny, one being more exploration based the other kind of city building – and it'll be backwards compatable with the current numenera stuff 🙂
