The difference between a combat deployment and non combat deployment in the Army

Worst Ever – Great job in building a company that is horrible in every way. Want 20 minute waits to talk to someone? Want bad technical support? Want wrong information that causes you to lose email ability and websites to go down for days. They got you covered!

Some people have asked me what is the difference between a combat deployment and a non combat deployment in the Army. Well there is more than just one might have people trying to kill you and one should not so let me explain.

I have a question. And I’m sure you’ve answered it 100 times, but I’ll ask anyways. If I enlist as an officer out of college how long would I need to wait before I can try out for special forces and would I be able to choose my mos or would I have to get a special forces option contract? For example could I go in as an armor officer then tryout for special forces? Thanks in advance, you’re the man

Do you have an equal or lesser shot of a combat deployment if you are reserve/National Guard as opposed to active duty? Also, hope you are your girl and daughter are holding up alright with this shitshow

Once I lose 150 pounds I’m hoping to join. Does the military help you start your own business when you get out if you wanted to start one?

Mandatory algorithm boost by commenting to support Chris. This is where I say “great vid” and other obligatory hype man functions.

When I was in an ASA company in Fort Carson Colorado, we deployed to Ft. Wachuca (?) TX for training. It was in a dry county, so some of the guys drove to somewhere else after our arrival to get beer. On the drive to TX, we maintained the standard 35 mph. When we took breaks, we all pulled off the road and parked. We peed on the off road (left) tires, screened by the vehicles from those on the highway.

Later, when we deployed to SVN, my platoon was sent to Pleiku. Other platoons were sent to other sites in county. And, yes, there we received hazardous fire pay.

Hey Chris! This might be a dumb question, but is a rotation to the NTC or another base for a training exercise considered as a noncombat deployment or just a training exercise?

  • DrGremlin Games

This may be a dumb question, but when deciding to enlist as an infantryman, is there a limit to how many different “advanced” trainings/schools you are allowed to attend in your army career? i.e. Sniper School, Airborne school, special forces, Ranger school (only because I am poor at wording things)

I was deployed to Bosnia in 96 with the combat engineers as a medic. I received hazardous duty pay, tax exempt from federal and state spent 11 months in county. My first month we stayed in a bomb out buildings with force protection, as time moved on we moved to a lager base where we had bunkers sandbags a round our, and guard towers. With triple strand wire on the perimeter. I had a full combat load for my M-16 . Everyone had to where their LBE, Kevlar and carry there weapon at all times. Sounds like a combat deployment to me. Nope, I was not authorized to wear a combat patch, and never awarded the CMB.

we don’t consider our deployment as a combat deployment, but we have a mission and we don’t pay taxes. we get hazard pay and conduct air defense in the middle east

Hi Chris! Or well anyone that can help answer my question. I’m going to MEPS on Tuesday (4/28) and I chose 14 Echo after taking my PiCat seeing the qualifications for my MOS. But I’m still deciding to choose 11x or whether to finalize my choice as of 14 Echo at meps. I didn’t find too much from people’s experiences for 14echo. If anyone has any insight much appreciated!
